Elections 2020

People voting, grown men doting;
on the one they like the best.

Children yawning, women fawning;
Election season is a test.

A test of where this mankind is;
But this is not a high school quiz.

The stakes are high, or so it seems;
Battle lines are drawn, each in their teams.

But does this do us any good?
Have we changed? I think we should!

This year, will each side even bother;
To connect with one another?

And if they can’t, not in this life;
must we live with endless strife?

Must our children grow to know;
this politics is one big show?

A show that doesn’t serve us well;
advance our cause, or some truth tell;

A show that’s based on our division;
To keep us neatly in this prison.

A prison made in our own minds;
and in our bias, strength is finds.

So take a minute in this season;
to reclaim your inner reason.

The values that you hold most dear;
Push aside your baseless fear.

Remember this is not for “I”;
but for those who on us rely.

So make your mark, and make it proud;
This is the time to be loud.

But loud in love, and grace so rare;
the World needs now, your love and care.
